Statistics tell us the most popular days and hours of the week for our site, what search engines and other sites are linking to us, error codes the site is generating and more.

What is the difference between Hits and Pages?

Hits are calls against the server for every element of the page being visited. If there are 5 images on a page, the number of hits for that page will be at least 6 (5 for images + 1 for the page). A more accurate means of interpreting the statistics is by focusing on Page views.

How do I know the most appropriate keywords to use when optimizing my site for search engine rankings?

In the section titled "Referrers", you will find key phrases and keywords that your visitors are using to find your site, arranged in order of popularity.

What does the section at the bottom of the page "HTTP Status Codes" mean?

This is a list of error codes visitors are receiving when they go to the site. Remember there can be many "hits" for each page. Clicking on "404", will display all "document not found" errors. You will see a list of elements (images/pages/code), that are not being found when called, by a page. There could be many explanations for this, such as removing a page from the site, but forgetting to remove a link referring to it, on another page.

Is it possible to see what sites have linked to mine?

Yes it is, the section under "Referrers" | "Origin", lists the Referring Search Engines and well as Referring sites.

How popular are the browsers my visitors are using?

Under the Navigation section, you will find "Browsers". This section lists all of the browsers being used and by what percentage of your visitors.
